Optalis is launching a new 'Recollections' Memory Café at Cockayne Court in Finchampstead, Wokingham from November 15 2013, from 2pm to 4pm (and then taking place every second Friday of the month subsequently).
Recollections will provide a place where any member of the public, who feels that they, or a person they know, may have a short-term memory problem, can drop in without an appointment and talk to an experienced volunteer or a professional member of one of the health teams. People with memory problems or dementia and
their carers have the opportunity to meet regularly in our informal setting, with other people in similar circumstances. We want to reduce the isolation felt by dementia sufferers and those who care for them.
Information will be available, as well as practical tips about coping with dementia and memory problems. You might even make some new friendships as a result!
There'll be light snacks and refreshments on offer, and you'll have the opportunity to exchange experiences and information if you're a carer, whilst those suffering with a short-term memory problem can receive mental stimulation through the activity of meeting and talking to others.
The Recollections Memeory Cafe is located at:
Cockayne Court (Optalis)
109 Arnett Avenue
